Reflection on the Sunday Gospel – Gospel- MK 6:24-35
Jesus teaches the crowds that he is the “bread of life.”
In Sunday’s Gospel, the crowd asks Jesus for a sign so that they can believe that he has come from God. This is a curious request, because Jesus has just fed more than 5000 people with just five barley loaves and two fish. How quickly they seem to have forgotten the wonderful thing that Jesus has done for them. Or, maybe they never recognised the miracle in the first place. Sometimes we don’t recognise the wonderful things that God has done for us. Sometimes, we simply forget and ask for further evidence of his love and care. We pray that God will remove our blindness so that we can receive with thanks and praise all the wonderful things that God accomplishes in our lives.
Together as a family, name the wonderful gifts that God has given you and some of the remarkable deeds that God has accomplished in our world. Observe that it is important to stop to count our blessings because we can easily miss recognising all of the wonderful things that God does for us. Read together Sunday’s Gospel, John 6:24–35. Ask: Why are the people seeking out Jesus? (because he has fed them) What do they want from Jesus? (a sign that he has come from God) What does Jesus tell them? (He says that he will give them something greater and more important than the bread that fed their physical hungers; he will give them bread that will give them eternal life.) Recall that we have this gift from Jesus in the Eucharist. Pray together, thanking God for all that he has given to us, especially for the gift of eternal life and the Eucharist.

Grade Level Liturgy Reflections…
Garde 2 Liturgy
The Grade 2 students gathered to hear the Word of God at Star of the Sea Church with Fr. John. The theme of the Liturgy was celebrating friendship.
The word of God - The Book of Sirach
“Faithful friends are like a sturdy shelter: Whoever finds one has a rare treasure. Faithful friends are priceless. No amount of money can balance their worth.”
A reflection
Picture in your mind the people you think of as friends. These may include family friends, relatives, friends your own age, younger and older friends and God who is our greatest friend of all. Think of some of the characteristics and attributes of your friends. (Ask students if anyone would like to share their thoughts about what makes a good friend)
Think of your friends and what it is that makes them your friend.
What is it that you like most about your friends?
How long have you known each other?
What is the most important gift your friends give you?
What is the most important gift you give to your friends?
How do you ensure that your friendship continues to grow and develop?
The gift of faithful friends is a most precious and priceless treasure. It is one of God’s greatest gifts of love to us. Real friendships can last a lifetime.
Thank you to Fr. John and all the families that came to celebrate the word of God with us.
The Miracles Exhibition
The Grade 6 students were incredibly blessed to attend ‘The Miracles Exhibition and venerate the Relic of Bl. Carlo Acutis’ at Marist Regional College.
The tour was a unique faith formation opportunity for our Grade 6 students to learn more about and experience the holy example of the teenage saint-to-be, Blessed Carlo Acutis. Being held so close to our school enabled the students and staff to visit and experience the Exhibit and pray in the presence of his Relic.

We have a leaderboard displayed outside Gr 3 and running results are announced on the PA regularly.
