Welcome to Term 1 Week 9 2024
Principal Report
Thank You
Thank you to all our families for your support and understanding last Thursday 28th March with the TasNetworks very late notice of the power outage. The leadership team attended on Thursday and we didn’t have anyone turn up at school. This was an unexpected event and one that we hope we don’t have to repeat in the future.
Gospel Reading
John 20:19-31 Thomas believes because he sees Jesus.
Family Connection
Within normal family life, there are many opportunities for conflict. Jesus did not promise us the absence of conflict in our lives. Instead, he gave us the gifts of peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation so that we could reduce conflict. The measure of Christian family life is not the absence of conflict, but the manner in which conflict is resolved. Filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit, we ask Jesus to help us to bring peace and forgiveness to situations of conflict in our families.
As your family gathers, take this opportunity to examine how your family resolves conflict. Recall a recent argument or disagreement and discuss how the conflict was resolved. Consider whether the conflict was resolved peacefully, in the spirit of Jesus. If not, discuss alternatives that might be tried in the future. Read together today’s Gospel, John 20:19-31. Recall that we have each received Jesus’ gift of the Holy Spirit and that the Holy Spirit helps us to be people who forgive others and seek peace. Pray together the Prayer to the Holy Spirit or the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis.
While often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, the Peace Prayer wasn’t written by the saint. However, it remains a popular traditional prayer.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Reflection on the Sunday Gospel
Easter Sunday - John 20:1-9
The Resurrection of Jesus
Not only is Easter the beginning of the new life of the glorified Christ, but it is also equally the beginning of the new life for all of us who believe.
We have no doubt, with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that the grave is not a destination but a process- the cross is not an end but a means to glory.
On Sunday, and today, we celebrate this truth. We also celebrate the ultimate triumph of good over evil, peace over chaos, and light over darkness.
With expectant hope, we know that this light will continue to outshine the darkness, Truth will always conquer falsehood, good will triumph over evil, and life will exceed death.
The darkness which covered the whole world as Jesus breathed his last did not endure forever. We now see the morning! And just as Mary did not keep this joy and good news of the resurrection to herself, neither can we!
Just as Jesus called her by name, He calls each of us today by name to be missionary disciples who share and proclaim the good news of the resurrection with all those we meet. Let us carry this message of hope to the poor, the sick, and the broken hearted that beyond the gloomy darkness of Good Friday lies the glorious dawn of Easter Sunday.
"We are Easter people and ALLELUIA is our song!!!"

Holy Week Celebrations
To mark the significant days of Holy Week that we remember as part of our Catholic Faith Tradition, the whole school came together to remember the key events that took place in the lead up to Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Students and staff re-enacted Palm Sunday, waving palms and ferns as they welcomed Jesus and his disciples into Jerusalem on his donkey. This was then followed up with Jesus and his disciples sharing the Last Supper and the whole school joining in on his last meal.
A BIG thankyou to all students and staff for making this such a significant celebration together. Special thanks to Eliza, family and Fantan the pony (Wynyard Pony Club) for helping us for this significant event. I think we all agree a wonderful celebration that will be remembered for many years to come.
