Welcome to Term 3 Week 1 2022
Deputy Principal Report
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to Term Three. We hope that over the break you found time where possible to adopt a slower pace and to enjoy some quality time with loved ones.
We look forward to a productive term of learning across the school with some large events on the calendar including Book Week and Catholic Education Week. In the coming weeks further information will be communicated about these events. The Book Week parade will be held on Tuesday 23rd of August and weather permitting will be held outside between 10-11am.
As COVID-19 continues to plague our communities the school will maintain the advised health practices and monitoring of local cases. Where practicable, moving forward we will be exploring how to strengthen parent-school connections through the attendance of events.
Weekly Gospel - Luke 12:13-21 - A person's life does not consist of possessions.
See link for family connection notes for morals and messages about the parable of the rich fool.
Our school is currently gathering donations for our Vinnies Winter Appeal. An activity that very much reflects our ethos of caring for the less fortunate.

RE News
The Spirit of Jesus is Everywhere…We just need to look.
Some young students were asked about the kinds of things Jesus was known for. Among the answers given were: He helped people get better, he had meals with the sinners and outcasts. He was kind and welcoming and forgiving.
This then led to the question, “Can we still see him today?” Initially the answer was a definite NO until it began to emerge that YES we can. We see him in the doctors, nurses and carers. We see him working in the food kitchens for the street people. We see him in the hugs of forgiveness. We see him in the greeting and smile of others. We can see him in our spouse, mum, dad, sister, brother, friend and stranger. He is everywhere. We can see him in many people. He is in each of us too.
With so much negativity going on in the world at present, seeing and hearing about the good that many are doing, gives us hope. At Stella we spent the last couple of weeks last term naming up and putting on display, where we have been seeing the Spirit of Jesus in action. This Spirit of Jesus, ‘do good to others ‘virus,’ is one we do not mind catching and transmitting!
Take the time to look around. Jesus is happening every day. There are constant acts of goodness that go unnoticed in your home at school, in your workplace and in the general community. Jesus is using his special agents to get his message across to people. Jesus is constantly talking to us through people in our lives each day. We need to be switched on. Take the time to stop, look around and ask, “Where did I see Jesus today?” Perhaps a more important question might be, “Did I let the Jesus in me be seen by others today?”
School Uniform
Beanies and Extra Winter Clothing
Additions to the full winter uniforms, such as beanies and jackets, can be worn outside only. i.e. a student can wear an additional jacket for warmth over the top of their full winter uniform.
Canteen Volunteers
We are seeking helpers in our canteen, if you have some time to spare please let our office staff know.
School Photo Day
School photos will take place on Monday 8th of August. We wish to provide parents with some guidance regarding what uniform students should wear. The school is in a period of transition with our school uniform. Please see the Uniform update below circulated on 14th April, 2022.
To aid us in achieving consistency in class photographs we request that:
Kindergarten - Grade Two classes to wear full sports uniform including rugby top.
Grade 3-6 classes to wear full formal winter uniform.
Grade 6 students please wear leavers jackets.
We appreciate that some Early Years families would prefer the appearance of the winter uniform for school photos, however we need to allow for consistency across each class as we transition towards PE uniform in the Early Years grades.
Book Week 2022
This year's Book Week parade will be held on Tuesday August 23 at 10am. Students are invited to dress up as a book character for the day.
Spectators are invited to watch the parade from outside Kookaburra and the Library.
Wet weather plans TBC. This year's theme is Dreaming with eyes open...
BOOK WEEK READERS
To help celebrate Book Week, we are inviting readers into our classes to read to and listen to the children daily at 2:30pm (or whenever suits your child's teacher). Beginning Monday August 22. Contact your child's teacher for more information.
Eisteddfod
Well done to our students who represented our school last term participating in the Eisteddfod, such a wonderful experience for the children.
