Welcome to Term 4 Week 3
RE News
November 1st and 2nd is All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day respectively. November is a time we remember those who have died, particularly those close to us. Grade 3-6 will participate in a liturgy next Thursday morning. Students in Prep-Grade 2 will celebrate the lives of special people at a grade level liturgy, at a time determined by the grade teachers. Students in Grade 3-6 are asked to bring an item of nature such as a flower, shell, etc or, a cut out heart with the name(s) of someone close to them who has died. Teachers in Prep- Grade 2 will let parents know if they require something similar.

SRC NEWS
This week on MJR Radio Jet and Lacey spoke about being respectful by putting your hand up and waiting if you wish to speak. Everyone has the right to speak and be heard and when there are a lot of students in the same room putting your hand up is the fair and just way for everyone to feel included.
Last week on MJR Radio Sophie and Jobe spoke about wearing the school uniform with pride. Making sure that even the smallest part of the uniform like socks or hair accessories are following the school’s policy helps to create a positive and respectful school atmosphere. Jobe and Sophie both noticed that nearly everyone has been wearing their hats outside, especially the older grades who are setting a great example for the younger students.
THANK YOU
$500 was raised for the Wear Pink and Walk for others fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who donated.
WELL DONE BRAYDEN
Big congratulations to Brayden for shaving his hair off and all students who helped fundraise for the Cancer Council of Tasmania.

PREPARING FOR 2022
CLASS PLACEMENTS: When we are working out the students’ class groupings each year, we take may factors into consideration eg: ability groupings, gender balance, special needs, and groupings. If parents have specific requests they wish to be considered as well, please put these in writing addressed to Mrs Christina Gretton and leave them at the office or with the class teachers by no later than 27th October 2021. The request should be clearly stated with a reason for making that request. As you would appreciate, it is a difficult task and impossible to keep everyone happy.
I ask you to remember 3 things:
- Children adapt more easily than parents
- We consider all factors thoroughly
- In the end the leadership team make the final decision.
If you wish your child to repeat a year, or you are consider relocating or will not be attending Stella Maris in 2022, could you please inform the school office in writing as per the Terms and Conditions on your child’s signed Enrolment Acceptance.
JUST LIKE JESUS
Congratulations to these students who received the "Just Like Jesus" award at assembly. It means that they have been 'caught' treating others in an extra respectful manner.

BOOKLISTS 2022
Dear Families
We have reviewed our book list process and implemented the following changes. 2022 students will receive their book packs early December and the cost will be added to the 2022 school fee accounts. We believe this is a easier process for parents and students as it allows more time to cover books in preparation for the new school year
Sport - Basketball
Over the weekend nearly 60 Stella Maris Primary School students participated in the North-West School Basketball Tournament which was held in both the Devonport and Penguin stadiums. The basketball community, family and friends witnessed many amazing moments from our students. Our sportsmanship, energy and school spirit were inspirational!!
Many positive stories have been shared from the weekend’s tournament as all our teams demonstrated our school values!! The children had an opportunity to showcase and improve their skills. They played in a fun and competitive environment and new friendships were created.
A huge thank you must go to all the coaches, managers and parents who made this opportunity a reality. Thank you to Mr Brad Nairn, Johnny Morrison and Millie Baker who put up their hand to coach or manage so that three of the teams could play.
A massive thank you to David Reece for umpiring the Grade 5/6 Division One Boys and a big thank you to Sue Morrison, Kimmy McCaskill and Peter Vincent for helping me organise the finer details.
Three teams were very successful and have made it through to the state champs being held in Launceston. These were the Grade 3/4 Division 1 girls, the 3/4 Division 1 boys and the 5/6 Division 1 boys.
What a fantastic weekend and what a wonderful group of children we have at our school. We are so proud of them all!!
